Discuss Your Contraceptive Choices With Confidence
The Pharmacy Contraception Service has been put in place to allow patients to walk into the pharmacy, if they wish to start using an oral contraceptive, looking for an alternative option or continuing with the same oral contraceptive. This allows better access to patients when they are unable to get a GP appointment in time and in turn take the pressure of GP’s.
A person can self-refer or be referred by their GP or sexual health clinic. The pharmacy may also identify patients that are suitable for this service and let them know.
A confidential consultation will be carried out where a shared decision is made on the ongoing supply of the patients oral contraceptive.
This is an NHS service and there will be no charges for the supply of oral contraceptives.
